By the way, please look at
http://search.cpan.org/~akimov/ORM-0.85/lib/ORM.pod module at a leisure
time. It is another DB abstraction layer. There is a very very interesting
idea for database searching named "Full-featured objects search using native
Perl-expressions". It gives you almost unlimited possibilities when
constructing queries.

Why treat these as proper columns rather than defining a separate accessor
group for them?
The DBIC approach is that anything that goes through get/set_column should
be
a real database column (or at least for read-only resultset column),
always.
