Doing a lookup in sql just takes to much time. ======================================================================
---------------------------------------------------------------------- paul - 23-Nov-06 10:50 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark, Please make your case. I don't see the value in showing md5 hashes or digests on the console. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dirixmjm - 23-Nov-06 15:30 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- We actually use plain passwords, and it is a real pain in the butt having to logon the sql server, check the users password before we are able to logon the popserver for a client to check some problem with a messages. (I know our admin system should resemble the passwords, but they aren't always consistent, and require a browser which isn't alway available for us). Showing MD5, has no purpose for me, but unix crypt can be usefull to check a password manually, or see a * in frond of the password when the account was disabled. But then again we mostly use plaintext, with some older unix crypt ones. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paul - 30-Jan-07 20:59 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm closing this one with a wont-fix. This breaks unix convention.
