Jorge, gmime.2.4 is API incompatible with gmime-2.2.
debian/sid provides both packages. Stick to gmime-2.2 until dbmail is ported to gmime2.4. That won't happen in my tree until gmime-2.4 is included in an ubuntu release (probably 9.10).
