I understand you, when I think'd on this, the goal wasn't to make the email
client tell me the reason why the login fail, but more for the
administrator, or with a simple telnet or 110 or 143.
Anyway, why not have this feature, and make it end the connection as if a
simple QUIT of LOGOUT was issued, but followed by the reason message? Ex:

User logins
POP3/IMAP accepts the login
IF the status is zero (inactive), just disconnect has if a QUIT/LOGOUT was
issued by the user


Would this be acceptable?
