Hi all,
The first release candidate for the new stable production series has
been unleashed.
Some of the main advantages and improvements in this series:
performance
The server architecture was completely redesigned. A much reduced
memory footprint and database connection overhead are just some of the
main improvements. All the services offered like POP3, IMAP, LMTP, and
ManageSieve benefit equally from the new event-driven approach.
scalability
Using an event-driven multi-threaded architecture and database
connection pooling supporting many connected clients simultaneously is
no longer an issue. Using a single-instance storage design makes sure
attachments are never stored more than once, even when received many
times in different messages.
security
As much possible, database queries are performed as prepared
statements with bounded variables. This industry standard approach
prevents SQL injection attacks.
compliance
A lot of effort was spent on improving compliance with the IMAP
standard. All major email clients will work like a breeze, even when
many different users are accessing the same mailbox at the same time.
