Summary: PostgreSQL connection fails at daemon startup
Description:
server.c function server_run() initializes DBMS and authentication
connections (at lines 632-640) *before* dropping privilege. This
sequence, although quite logical, fails with a PostgreSQL configuration
that specifies Unix-domain sockets and "ident" authentication. (PostgreSQL
9.x Doc. Sec. 19.3.6.2 recommends this combination when a PostgreSQL server
and its client share the same host.)
