here are the logs of two days of vacuuming - hope it can help!

Can you let me know which file(s) are growing? It looks from these logs like the messageblks toast table grew slightly at the start of the day, then remained the same size for the next 40 hours or so:

10-07-00:NOTICE: Pages 961913: Changed 76279, Empty 0; Tup 3620753: Vac 272006, Keep 0, UnUsed 290.
10-07-00: Total CPU 52.00s/18.71u sec elapsed 428.71 sec.

then half an hour later:

10-07-30:NOTICE: Pages 962010: Changed 604, Empty 0; Tup 3622733: Vac 241, Keep 0, UnUsed 270468.
10-07-30: Total CPU 45.22s/6.00u sec elapsed 216.26 sec.

and the same size 40 hours later:

11-23-30:NOTICE: Pages 962010: Changed 186, Empty 0; Tup 3665890: Vac 3, Keep 0, UnUsed 228083.
11-23-30: Total CPU 45.48s/5.03u sec elapsed 223.93 sec.

It may be a different table, but the messageblks toast table is usually the largest. Perhaps it's just a bad example.

Is it still growing?

If so, can you send some logs from a time where it grew, and send me the output of 'ls -lRt' on the data directory and of 'select oid, relname from pg_class' (SQL).

enjoy your holiday :)

Good so far...
