First, check wheter the imap service is working after startup:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ telnet localhost 143
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.

* OK dbmail imap (protocol version 4r1) server 1.1 ready to run
If not, check the log file (/var/log/mail.log) for imapd output. You
might want to change the logging level in /etc/dbmail.conf (or
whichever config file you use).
