I suck. I am coming from the windoze world, but am trying to convert to
Linux. Pretty steep learning curve thus far, but I am getting there.

That did the trick! Now from Microsoft Outlook via pop3 I can authenticate
against my account. So dbmail-pop3d is working. Haven't tested imap, but
I'm sure it is as well.

SO NOW I AM LEFT WITH A POSTFIX MTA that can't deliver email to mysql.
Please help, I am under the gun here to get this up and running. It still
says that it cannot connect to mysql via: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock, which
does exist. What do I look for and where to try to figure this lack of
connection out? I have chose to use dbmail-smtpd for delivery and have
followed the dbmail INSTALL.postfix directions. Postfix was installed from
apt-get testing and is at version 2.1.4-5. I also installed via apt-get
postfix-mysql from testing, which is at 2.1.4-5. Other than my dabbling in
master.cf, main.cf, and transport what else can I look for to test postfix
against mysql?

Thanks Paul.
