I don't believe it... There must be some change! Apparently libtool doesn't like spaces in directory names. Makes sense. Moving to root shouldn't be necessary though.

Show us the error output from make all, and what is the exact commandline for running make? I.e.: is is:

/dbmail-2.0.3/> make all

or are you doing something like:

/Users/wendellt/> make -f /dbmail-2.0.3/Makefile all
