Above all you have to make sure the migration script works for your
current schema *before* you try it on your live data.

If you are running on a vanilla 1.2.11 system, that will most likely not
be a problem. However, if you have upgraded from earlier releases, you
will probably encounter some problems with indexes. In that case you'll
have to customize the migration script accordingly.
