Hmm, as far as I can tell the system is threading just nicely. MySQL is creating threads, Apache is creating threads and so forth... the system has the libraries and headers.
I'm just speculating that this might be a problem in the dbmail package itself since I needed to include the basic -I/usr/local/ include in the Makefile by hand. Which is quite unheard of...
