that's a new requirement.  I didn't notice that in the docs, but then 
again I may have missed it.  I never needed glib before.  You might note 
that in the "what's new," section.

glibc is not glib.

For 2.1 you need glib-2.4 or better (glib-2.2 may actually suffice), as
well as gmime-2.1.14 or better.
