I fully agree with you, Paul.
I've mentioned there that it's is the maintainer who can fix the problem.
I just described my experience with this issue while using DBMail in
FreeBSD.

BTW, the maintainer didn't answer me when I just asked why the port-version
of DBMail is `ancient', so I doubt he'd answer about start-up scripts.
