Sorry, you were right.
It's in the gentoo init scripts that the dbmail-util -a is being called
before starting the daemon. I got confused because of the same name.
I will report to the Gentoo bugzilla. Sorry again.
What platform are you running on, and what does your startup script look like?
dbmail-util -a -y should only be run from cron, nightly, or so.
