Actually, this is a (more or less) planned feature albeit for other
purposes. I could be used for integrity checks, though I would assume
such functionality belongs in the database backend.

Storing a hash in/for each message block will be part of a redesign
aimed at preventing the same attachment from being stored more than
once, even when part of different messages and/or stored in different
mailboxes.
