I have the same problem...switched to Ilohamail, which works fine. There is some discussion of this in the roundcube forums, but the propsed solutions didn't work for me. From what I remember when I tried to debug it, some functions in imap.inc were sending IMAP commands in a format that dbmail-imapd doesn't understand.
