Yes. Debian stable is not supported because of this.
Paul generally recommends people to be on Etch.
However, it should be noted that DBmail runs fine on Sarge if you
install a recent enough version of glib (>=2.8) and gmime (>=2.1.19).
Glib 2.10 is available through backports.org*. Gmime is not, but
it should not be too hard to compile that yourself.
