if you don't know how to debug this beast, try running dbmail-2.2.11 which is well-tested production code. code from the git trees is unstable development code. Given the massive changes in some of the libraries we consume (esp libzdb, gmime), and the major bugs in some databases (esp mysql-5.1) I can not help you without further information.
