Paul, That did it! Thanks! Probably would've fumbled for days experimenting 
with that... 


So, I now have dbmail-lmtpd and -imapd running. I've even received my first 
couple of spams on this server; I guess this is the Rite of Passage for all new 
email servers - before they get their filters up, at least. 


Next, gotta figure out why I cannot see the bodies of any emails in 
thunderbird. Perhaps another configuration thing I've got to change.

I suspect you have bindip=* in dbmail.conf. 

Use either an explicit ipv4 address (like 0.0.0.0) or an explicit ipv6 
address (like ::), or a combination (0.0.0.0,::) 


this should not be a problem on linux/fbsd systems, but we've seen 
similar problems since the ipv6 code was merged, and using above 
workaround helped.
