FYI: i copied a example message to paul's testserver where the subject is missing in thunderbirds list view which is not always reproducable by moving or copy it around but then often you move it with imap that more suspect the results
i even managed on my dbmail 3.1.2 testserver to have a siutuation where it does no longer show the messagebody in thunderbird while it is still there if you view the source code and in one case thunderbird was that much vonfused to show the next message by select it from the list whatever this rarely case of 1 out of some hundret messages triggers, i think we have a perfect example to look what happens inside dbmail and due communication with thunderbird and i bet the cases with empty message body in apple mail could be exactly the same reason
