we are sorting out some massive stability problems which forced me to downgrade 
to 3.1.2 which seems to be not affected and the fix for it opened a memleak in 
pop3d as well I managed pop3d to hang again 

So if i where you I would keep calm and wait get the issues sorted out :-)

Any update on 3.1.3 ? -- if not I'm fine with putting the imap SORT 
patch
in portage for now.
