It happened again at ~ 03:00 this morning.
I did save a proper core file + more strace this time:

I let it run for a few seconds, but:
# wc -l imapd_strace.log
42373 imapd_strace.log
I do have a core dump should you need anything from that.
Little addition:
Afaik the only thing connected to imap at all at that time was my phone
+ my ISPs imap watchdog (which connects to a test account with empty
mailbox every hour or so)
