The abort is triggered by

which is a glib call. Only reason I can think of - short of running with
libglib *with* debugging symbols - is that memory allocation fails.

Why memory fails on your system is a mystery to me.

Maybe libglib is very old - but that would be shocking for sles11sp3.

Or perhaps there is some security setup interfering like apparmor or
se-linux.
