Hi Pablo,

I‘m trying replicate the functionality of
http://spotlight.dbpedia.org/rest/annotate site by following the instructions
posted on the “Run from a JAR” wiki to install a local Spotlight REST server.
My assumption is that by downloading the large lucene disambiguation index &
spotter dictionary and using them in the local server should produce the same
(or at least very similar) results as the
http://spotlight.dbpedia.org/rest/annotate when the same text and parameters
are sent. It is not. Is running from the JAR the best way to run a local
server?

Thanks again for your help,

Bill Ellis

same results as public spotlighter web service

There is not really "the online version." The endpoint you mentioned points to
the lucene version before 0.7. The spotlight.sztaki.hu points to the newer
version.

Cheers
Pablo

Hi bill,

The online version uses the statistical version (0.7) and the en_2_2 model.

I think since you mentioned the word 'index' you might be using the lucene
models, which would explain the differences

I have installed the DBPedia Spotlighter on a local AWS instance using the
instructions at
https://github.com/dbpedia-spotlight/dbpedia-spotlight/wiki/Run-from-a-JAR.
I have also downloaded the large release 0.5 disambiguation index and
spotter lexicon from the download site and configured the
server.properties file to point to those files as per the
instructions.

Everything starts up fine but when I run the same text
against my local installation & the site at
http://spotlight.dbpedia.org/rest/annotate using exactly the same
parameters I get totally different results.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to configure the local
installation so that it
returns the same results as the http://spotlight.dbpedia.org/rest/annotate
interface?

Thanks for any help you can provide in advance,
