Hi Christoph,
The reason behind your issue is the way German Wikipedia editors
describe writers. If a Wikipedia page doesn't contain an infobox mapped
to the "Writer" class in DBpedia ontlogy (see the list of mapped German
infoboxes at [1]), then DBpedia extraction framework does not assign
type "Writer" to the corresponding DBpedia concept. I quickly checked,
and indeed found only "Personendaten" infobox (mapped to Person) used to
describe writers in German Wikipedia.
Cheers,
Volha

Hi,
I'm a german student working on a master thesis about the
representation of world literature on Wikipedia using data from
DBpedia. Currently my goal is to obtain a list of all writers in
different language versions of DBpedia. Therefore I'm using the
instance_types files, where writers are explicitly tagged as
"<http://dbpedia.org/ontology/Writer>" using the
"<http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#type>" predicate. It
actually works really well for the english and french version of
DBpedia but for the german version it doesn't work at all. Not a
single person in the german instance_types file is tagged as a writer,
they are all just tagged as persons. Does anyone know the reason
behind this or even a solution for this issue?
Thanks,
Christoph
