COMMENTS
Feedback comes to a complete finish followed by "thank you". After "one
man gathers what another man spills" in Saint Stephen, Bobby says
"a-hem, well I mean uh, a-hem". (1) Garcia and drums. (2) The cut here
is probably on the order of 10-20 seconds. (3) The cut here is also
probably 10-20 seconds.

COMMENTS
Sung during Alligator: "Burn down the Fillmore... ...heat alone"
followed shortly by "I told my dog he's got to...". Unlike 8/21 and
8/23, Feedback doesn't come to a complete finish, but goes into Bid You
Goodnight.

The DAT tapes, cassettes, and CDRs in circulation of this date are a
compilation that contains the Alligator sequence listed above preceded
by the following, which is an edited and reordered version of 8/24/68:
//Saint Stephen > The Eleven > Death Don't % Dark Star// % Cryptical >
Drums > The Other//One > Cryptical > New Potato// %. No wonder the end
of Dark Star and the beginning of St. Stephen are clipped! Copies
circulate widely with parts of it in mono, and some copies have the
Alligator sequence above preceded by material from 8/21/68 instead of
8/24/68! The DAT tapes of 8/21 and 8/22 came into circulation together
as a set about the time that Two From The Vault was released.

One source says this recording originates from 10 inch 8-track master
reels at 15ips, but David Gans received just the Alligator sequence from
Dick, labeled as 8/22/68 on a 1/4-track reel he made from Bear's
cassettes. Perhaps more of this show exists in the vault on reels or
cassettes?

COMMENTS
Nothing from this show appears on Two From the Vault. After the second
Cryptical: "thank you". After "one man gathers what another man spills"
in Saint Stephen, Bobby says "that's exactly how it is". The Eleven
timing does not include the "William Tell" verse, since that is how the
track IDs are set up on the circulating CDRs. At 3:55 into the Drums
after Alligator, Jerry joins in with a Caution type solo. Sung during
Alligator: "Burn down the Fillmore... ...heat alone", but without the "I
told my dog he's got to..." line heard on 8/22. Feedback comes to a
complete finish followed by "thank you".
RECORDING
86 SB Alligator thru Feedback had been in circulation for several
years, since it was played on GDH #364, but the complete show began to
circulate in 1999 or 2000. The Warner Brothers boxed set also includes
the Alligator thru Feedback sequence.
