My friend and I have been arguing about what key “Sugaree”
is in – I say B, he says E. Among other reasons, he can’t get his
head around the possibility that the 5 chord can be minor, he’s more
comfy with the F#m being the 2 chord. And if he’s right, the song ENDS on
the 5 chord, a rare occurrence meant to emphasize non-resolution…“Uncle
John’s Band” is an example (and a 5 minor at that, ha) but the “Sugaree”
ending clearly has that resolved feel. Am I right or wrong? Thanks |
