Wolfgang, thanks for your reply. Well, I do not insist on Microsoft's C++ compiler... Speaking of native things - I would prefer the intel compiler - I believe it does a better job on intel's cpus. But again, I don't even insist on MSVS.
I've played around a bit with eclipse and have seen that a 'cygwin toolchain' can be chosen for compilation, linking, debugging etc. Somehow I couldn't get it to work. There are tons of different settings that must be defined and I just don't know what are they. It could also be that the eclipse is not aware of the cygwin. In general I'm trying to move our group from fortran's goto spaghetties, which don't do any better even if they are written with a recent intel fortran compiler integrated in MSVS. The problem - our group works mostly on Win machines and only one guy has an idea about C++. Thanks and greetings from Darmstadt, Victor
