Hello all,

This question is not directly related to deal.ii. I hope its not too out of
place here.

I am solving compressible, inviscid flow using DG with linear shape
functions, FE_DGQ(1). I use the 3-stage SSP RK scheme of Shu-Osher but I
find that I have to use a cfl as low as 0.05 for it to work. A value of
cfl=0.1 causes the iterations to blow up within about 10-20 iterations. This
is a steady state problem and I am using local time stepping but even the
global time stepping does not work. The flow is subsonic over an airfoil or
cylinder, and there are no shocks.

Can anybody point out some literature on cfl condition and stability
analysis for nodal DG schemes which use non-simplex elements applied to
convection pde ?

Thanks
praveen
