TEXAS:

Former AG, and TX S. Ct. Justice John Hill proposed today an expansion of
death penalty to include murder of a judicial officer in commission of
his/her duties, following the shooting in the Atlanta courthouse.

It is explicit with respect to peace officers and prison guards under Texas
law.  As a practical matter any killing of a state judge would likely end up
being prosecuted as a capital crime because of circumstances of the crime.

Several years ago there was a shoot-out in Fort Worth at the Tarrant County
Courthouse.  That individual was tried, convicted and executed....
