Pakistan Sentences 5 to Death in Musharraf Plot


Pakistan sentenced 5 men to death for their involvement in an
assassination attempt on President Pervez Musharraf in December 2003, a
military spokesman said on Friday.

Major-General Shaukat Sultan declined to say what court had handed down
the death sentences, but said 1 of the convicted men was a soldier and the
others were civilians.

"They were convicted in the assassination attempt on the president on
December 25, 2003," he told Reuters, referring to the 2nd of 2 attempts on
Musharraf that month.
