INDONESIA:

Indonesian prosecutors recommend death penalty for Australian

Indonesian prosecutors have called for Australian man, Myuran Sukumaran,
to be sentenced to death if he is convicted for heroin smuggling.

The 25-year-old is the alleged leader of the so-called Bali 9 - a group of
9 Australians attending drug trafficking trials at the Denpasar district
court in Bali.

Our correspondent in Denpasar, Tim Palmer, reports prosecutors have said
there is no reason to grant Mr Sukumaran any leniency.

They have told the court he was at the head of an organised conspiracy to
export a class one drug from Indonesia.

They say he provided money, tickets and hotel bookings for couriers and
strapped heroin to the bodies of 4 people arrested at Denpasar airport.
