Death row escapee recaptured


GLENROY BISHOP, a death row prisoner who escaped from the Port of Spain
General Hospital in mid-December, was recaptured yesterday during a police
roadblock.

In the operation which included the Court and Process Branch ,Bishop was
held as he ran out of a maxi taxi, police said.

He was chased and held near Kantac Plaza , Arouca.

Bishop is expected to be placed on several identification parades before
appearing in court on several charges including possession of a .38
revolver, 20 rounds of ammunition.

He was sentenced to death for the December 21 1994 shooting death of
maxi-taxi conductor, Michael Cabral over a $2 fare.Bishop was at
under-going treatment when he escaped.
