NORTH CAROLINA:

Moore DA to seek death penalty

2 men will face the death penalty in the May shooting death of a Pinebluff
welder.

On Wednesday, District Attorney Maureen Krueger held a Rule 24 conference.
The conference alerts the court, the defendants and defense lawyers that
her office will try Justin Raynal Cotton and Martin Devon McMillan for
capital 1st-degree murder.

Donald Gray Sands, 43, was found May 12 with gunshot wounds in the head
and shoulder, lawmen said. Sands was found in a vehicle that had run off
the road and hit a tree on Gillespie Street in Addor.

Cotton and McMillan were also charged with common law robbery, attempted
robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a
dangerous weapon.

Their next court date is scheduled for Aug. 4 in Moore County Superior
Court.
