I have spoken to the manager at the pool, and she was friendly and showed me around. They have several sauna cabins arranged around a cold plunge pool, and we reckon there is probably enough space for 20-30 of us at a time. If we turn up with enough people, they will give us a group discount (GBP 5 per person instead of GBP 7). This is apparently the first time anybody has asked about a group discount - we're causing quite some interest... :-) The price includes a swim in the nice 50-metre pool as well if you're interested - it's the pool that was used for the Commonwealth Games in 1986 when they were here in Edinburgh. There are some rules though: * we won't be the only people around, so no naked sauna. I guess that means towels at least, or maybe swimwear. Sorry... :-/ * in theory they have separate male and female cabins, but I'm hoping we'll be able to get them to relax that rule if we're not directly sharing cabins with other people If we're going to turn up in large groups, then they would like some warning. I'm suggesting two group sessions: * Tuesday evening (19th), 19:30 to 21:15 * Friday evening (22nd), 19:30 to 21:15 and I'll set up 2 signup sheets for people shortly. The pool complex is about 1 mile (1.5 km away). Feel free to head along separately as well if you want.
