I am not able to reproduce here on 25.04 with wireplumber 0.5.8-1. During step 3, the audio continues to play from my laptop speakers.
Try going through your scenario with debug logging enabled, $ wpctl set-log-level D ; wpctl set-log-level 0 4 ... perform above steps ... $ wpctl set-log-level - ; wpctl set-log-level 0 - Then attach the output of journalctl -b here. There may be a clue in there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Debcrafters packages, which is subscribed to wireplumber in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2125641 Title: Auto switching audio to HDMI back and forth does not work anymore Status in wireplumber package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: It seems like Ubuntu 25.04's version of wireplumber has a bug (https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/wireplumber/-/issues/613) where if you plug your laptop into a HDMI monitor and expect your audio to switch over, it will not. It seems like the bug has been there since 0.5.0 and 25.04 is the first version that officially releases with that version. This is kind of a problem for every day usage and will not be great if it is not fixed by the next LTS. Workaround: run the following command after switching to HDMI. systemctl --user restart wireplumber.service ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 25.04 Package: wireplumber 0.5.8-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.14.0-29.29-generic 6.14.8 Uname: Linux 6.14.0-29-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.32.0-0ubuntu5.3 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Wed Sep 24 22:39:34 2025 InstallationDate: Installed on 2025-06-08 (109 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 25.04 "Plucky Puffin" - Release amd64 (20250415.3) ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/bin/zsh TERM=xterm-ghostty XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> SourcePackage: wireplumber UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wireplumber/+bug/2125641/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~debcrafters-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~debcrafters-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
