Trying to bring up the litetalk synthesizer to do an install of debian 6.04 not only produces silence, the kernel of debian 6.0.4 disables the litetalk from talking. With a slackware kernel already on the machine the reboot to slackware also goes silent the first time it's tried. However turning off the synthesizer and turning it back on again resets the synthesizer to factory settings and then rebooting slackware comes up talking.
