If you are correct and  a continuous  program isn't possible, you can likely 
get around the  1second restriction by, instead of using  a  timer block, use 
another computer core  which in  turn restarts the first one.  I imagine this 
will  happen  pretty much instantaneously,  as opposed to timers.

Edit:  In case I was  unclear: End  your program with a call to run the second 
programmable block,  which in turn  just runs the first one again. Should be 
much faster than timers.
