Hello Don, To the best of my knowledge, all mirrors have both the german and english version available for download. In fact, they only differ by the "lang=en" boot option in isolinux.cfg/syslinux.cfg.
I just uploaded the mentioned-before 8.6.1 update to the main mirror, where the 32bit kernel option should now work without any additional options (i.e. "adriane"). http://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/knoppix-dvd/ Actually, at http://knoppix.schoeppi.net/ , you can also download ISOs where booting "adriane" has been set as default, but those are sometimes older versions. Answering your question: flash-knoppix is a shell script that copies the DVD iso to flash pen while changing the first partition to writable FAT32 instead of iso9660, so you can modify boot options and other things. It's included in Knoppix, i.e. after booting the DVD image with a real or virtual DVD drive, just click on the "flash-knoppix" icon on the desktop and select the desired partitioning layout. Maybe someone can send you a USB flash pen already flashed and configured with the english Knoppix-Adriane options? After booting, the talking Adriane audio desktop should be completely self-explanatory, there is a help file explaining screen navigation in the very first audio menu item, and you basically need only the arrow keys, Enter, Escape and the CapsLock key for working with the system. It's really designed for beginners who don't care much about Linux itself and just want an easy access to their computer and the internet. There is even a program for learning the keyboard layout for absolute beginners. And for experts, there is a shell option. I believe there are englich youtube audio tutorials as well, if you just search for "Adriane Knoppix". The system hasn't changed much since the first version on Knoppix 6. Unfortunately, I haven't fount the time to create a complete handbook in english yet, but a german version is available on wikibooks, looking for translators. But again, the system is designed for self-learning, and absolute beginners.
