Devin,

I would recommend getting the iso with non-free firmware.
https://cdimage.debian.org/images/unofficial/non-free/images-including-firmware/current/amd64/iso-cd/

Then go to https://debgen.simplylinux.ch/ generate a replacement
sources.list file making sure you include the multimedia repository.

I'd also install smxi which you can download from http://smxi.org/smxi.zip

Install the command line tools and text browsers and utilities.

Debian still sticks to it's no "non free" rules, so firmware and multimedia
aren't in their iso files.
