It has picked up quite some pace in recent years. I was pretty late in packaging ghdl 2.0.0, which was released in March, and there have apparently been over 900 commits in the GitHub repo since. Though it looks like after the 2.0.0 release the next release number became 3.0.0, so maybe that's how releases will be numbered from now on.
