FWIW, I just applied this patch on my AlphaStation 255/233, which has been giving me random hangs under X. It certainly breaks xdm (it barfs with lots of entries of X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont) Serial number of failed request: 29 Current serial number in output stream: 30 in /var/log/xdm.log) and some other X apps aren't looking right either. /proc/cpuinfo for reference: cpu : Alpha cpu model : EV45 cpu variation : 7 cpu revision : 0 cpu serial number : system type : Avanti system variation : 0 system revision : 0 system serial number : cycle frequency [Hz] : 232018561 timer frequency [Hz] : 1024.00 page size [bytes] : 8192 phys. address bits : 34 max. addr. space # : 63 BogoMIPS : 456.80 kernel unaligned acc : 0 (pc=0,va=0) user unaligned acc : 4 (pc=1200030f0,va=120026b0c) platform string : AlphaStation 255/233 cpus detected : 1 Phil -- Philip Kendall <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~pak21/
