I have an Alpha machine with a Digital "Alphastation" sound card. On prior v2.2.x kernels, the Microsoft Sound System (MSS) sound card option was sufficient to enable sound. However, the identical sound configuration in the kernel does not seem to work for v2.4.x.
Here is the output section for the sound in dmesg|more: ad1848/cs4248 codec driver Copyright (C) by Hannu Savolainen 1993-1996 YM3812 and OPL-3 driver Copyright (C) by Hannu Savolainen, Rob Hooft 1993-1996 MIDI Loopback device driver There is not a /proc/sound entry. The sound devices are created (MAKEDEV). Does anyone have sound working or have fixed sound problems in 2.4.x kernels? Thanks... -- James D.
