PnP is working, and persistent buffers do matter...every howto ive seen on
kernel compiling states you must use persistent buffers with an AWE64 card
to get it to work. PNP detects the card and initilizes it fine. Its just
loading the driver fails.
Is persistent buffers compiled into the default modules?

Ok now I get a wierd error: Failed to insert Soundblaster 16, device
is busy or not available.
Do I need to recompile with persistant buffers? (I usually recompile
with that on other distros to get it to work.....)

It shouldn't matter, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not quite sure, but is
there something like PnP-support on Alphas? Never needed that but I
could imagine that a AWE64 is a PnP-card and thus you need PnP working.
