For what its worth, this is also true on i386. I don't even bother with the firewire cable on my iPod and just use its USB2 cable. Neither, however, has the proper sysfs interface that allows one to disconnect a single device. You have to unload sbp2 or usb-storage which removes all such devices. But this is OT... Ryan
