# cat /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 so we can see your config file. also post your video card model and information (just for fun & just in case): :~$ lspci|grep VGA or just: :~$ lspci Also, meanwhile try using: dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 This method is a little more up to date I believe.
