I was able to reproduce a segfault using CVS from gcc-4.0. As I reported some time ago, after a recent recompile it was working fine, but I guess it's not completely fixed. Maybe a rebuild will help?
Otherwise I'll try to hunt down the bug. In case it matters (or somebody
can recognize the problem), strace shows:
lstat("somefile", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=276, ...}) = 0
stat("somefile", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=276, ...}) = 0
