I was downloading the binaries, checking with "file antivir" och "ldd antivir", which seemed okay.
Then was running the binary, and it worked.. what more?
If you're thinking about clamav; install the milter (if running sendmail like I am..) and check your incoming e-mail for new headers.. there is also a clamav-testfiles with test-signatures you can put in an e-mail to yourself..

For private use: you can try AntiVir fom http://www.free-av.com/ It is free of cost for private use and next to Windows it is available for Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Solaris.
Is that one working well in a 64-bit userland, or does it need a chroot?
Can I integrate virus scanning with free AntiVir into my receiving sendmail setup?
To answer myself here: AntiVir from www.free-av.com seems to work on amd64 without chroot, but with ia32-libs installed.
I've installed clamav via apt-get instead, and that works well too.
