For what it's worth, setting up the chroot will take longer than downloading the source package by hand. You can download the sources as follows (and skip the chroot step): $ wget http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/c/cdrdao/cdrdao_1.1.9-3.dsc $ wget http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/c/cdrdao/cdrdao_1.1.9.orig.tar.gz $ wget http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/c/cdrdao/cdrdao_1.1.9-3.diff.gz Or if you'd prefer to use a browser, then visit: http://packages.debian.org/unstable/otherosfs/cdrdao (and pull down the 3 files listed above). Then extract the sources with: $ dpkg-source -x cdrdao_1.1.9-3.dsc The next step is the "cd cdrdao-1.1.9" step, just before you apply the patch from the BTS (bug tracking system).
